In March 2006, Canadian singer-songwriter-poet Leonard Cohen was awarded $9 million by a Los Angeles County Superior Court in a lawsuit he had launched the previous year against Kelley Lynch, his former long-term business manager. The then 71-year-old member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame had sued Lynch for fraud, negligence, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty.
